Mr. Gibbs' experience includes complex patent infringement litigation, patent prosecution and enforcement matters as well as copyright and trademark litigation, trade secrets and unfair competition. Mr. Gibbs is a registered patent attorney admitted to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. He is an aggressive advocate in business and commercial litigation, including contract and partnership disputes, finance matters, unfair trade practices, investor fraud, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, employment and insurance coverage matters. Mr. Gibbs has represented domestic and international companies in the aerospace, smartphone, semi-conductor, computer hard-drive and automotive industries.
Mr. Gibbs has a physics and engineering background including fourteen years of management and engineering experience at Hughes Aircraft Company.
Mr. Gibbs has been lead counsel on numerous complex patent infringement and copyright actions. He advises domestic and international corporations on intellectual property protection, technology and software licensing, privacy and non-disclosure matters. Mr. Gibbs has licensed aerospace technology rights to NASA and prepares opinions on the enforcement and monetization of patent portfolios for private companies in various industries. Mr. Gibbs has a Masters Degree in Physics from California State University Long Beach, and a Bachelors Degree in Physics from California State University Long Beach. Mr. Gibbs has a Juris Doctorate from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, CA. He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and to practice patent prosecution and appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences (BPAI).
Mr. Gibbs has expertise in intellectual property litigation and has directed all stages of complex patent litigation including discovery, motion practice, invalidity contentions, infringement contentions, Markman hearings, depositions, motions in limine, trial briefs, ex-parte reexamination petitions before the USPTO, and settlement negotiations.
